Land at Glasgow, drive away in a motorhome

If you’re flying into Glasgow Airport for an Atlas Motorhomes collection, the journey from the terminal to the depot is short. Glasgow Airport motorhome hire customers have two practical routes: a black cab from the rank, around 10 minutes and £25 to £30, or the 24-hour Glasgow Airport Express bus to Buchanan Bus Station, around £10 with a 15-minute walk or short taxi at the other end. There is no rail link from the airport, so it’s one or the other. Either way you’re at the keys at 104 Hydepark Street inside half an hour.

Glasgow Airport motorhome hire: how to get to the depot

Glasgow Airport sits at Paisley, eight miles west of the city centre on the south bank of the Clyde, with no rail station of its own. The two routes to the Atlas depot:

By taxi (fastest)

The black-cab and private-hire ranks are signposted directly outside Arrivals. A taxi to 104 Hydepark Street takes around 10 minutes in normal traffic and typically costs £25 to £30. Any local driver will know the address; if not, asking for “Anderston, just off the M8 Junction 19” gets the same result.

By Glasgow Airport Express (cheapest)

The 500 bus is the city’s 24-hour airport service, running between Glasgow Airport (Stance 1, outside Arrivals) and Buchanan Bus Station (Stance 46) every 10 minutes through the day and at reduced frequency through the night. Journey time is around 15 minutes. Single fares are around £10, contactless or cash to the driver, or via the First Bus app.

From Buchanan Bus Station to the depot

Buchanan Bus Station sits at the top of Buchanan Street in the heart of the city centre. From there:

  • Walk it in around 15 minutes. Head south down Buchanan Street, west along Argyle Street through the city centre, and the depot is on the south side of Hydepark Street near the Argyle Street rail bridge.
  • Black cab from the rank outside Buchanan takes around 5 minutes. Useful if you’re carrying camping gear, kids, or a packed week.

Late, delayed or arriving overnight

Atlas’s collection slots are daytime only (depot opens at noon Monday to Friday, with longer weekend hours), so an evening arrival usually means a hotel for the night and collection the next morning. The good news is the routes don’t shut down with the airport.

  • The Express 500 bus runs 24 hours. Less frequent overnight but it doesn’t stop, so a delayed flight isn’t a stranded one.
  • The taxi rank is staffed late. Black cabs and licensed private hire are at the rank for every scheduled arrival, including the last flights of the day.
  • Stay on or near the airport if your flight lands very late. The Holiday Inn at the terminal and the Premier Inn nearby are practical for an evening arrival, then catch the bus or a cab into the city the next morning before collection.
  • Or stay near the depot. The Hydepark Street area has hotels in walking distance, useful if you want to drop bags at reception before walking round the corner to collect.

Where the depot sits

The Atlas depot is at 104 Hydepark Street, G3 8BW, in Anderston-Finnieston on the western edge of the city centre. Anderston rail station is 9 minutes on foot, one stop west of Glasgow Central on the Argyle Line, useful to know for return journeys home. The full depot at Hydepark Street page covers the building, parking, opening hours and the handover walkthrough.

Why a Glasgow start works for Scotland

The depot puts you within an easy first day’s drive of Loch Lomond (around 30 minutes), the West Highlands, the start of the North Coast 500 in Inverness (around 3.5 hours), or a ferry crossing to Mull or Arran from Oban. On the way back, you’re 10 minutes from the airport for a stress-free flight home.
